Family crest

Add to Memories Tell a Friend

The motto: Nec sorte, nec fato - Neither by chance nor destiny

The crest adorns the gate to the manor, above the main entrance to the manor itself, it's on a tapestry above the fireplace in the ballroom of the manor. Theo also has the family crest engraved in a ring he wears, which he uses as a seal. Hence any letter from Theo (unless he is trying to hide his identity) is sealed with the image of the crest (there are more seals, but until the day Theo marries, they are under firm lock and key).

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
General

Name: Theodore Nott
Nicknames (and who is likely to use them): Theo (most people would use this)
Age: 26
Birthday: October 27, 1979
Place of Residence Nott Manor (Oxfordshire), 10 Harmonia Street (corner Harmonia Street, Agrippa Court), Forter Castle (Scottish highlands - no one more than Theo and Nathaniel would have full access to this, although Rodolphus would be able to come there if Theo is in the house as can Montague if Nathaniel is there.)

Appearance

Height: 6'2" (or 189 cm)
Weight: around 78 kg
Eyes: blue
Hair Colour & Style: dark brown, not too short but definitely not long. Always well cut.
Skin tone: Fair
Build: Tall and slim – lean muscles

Distinguishing Marks: A scar on his right thigh that he received when duelling with a two year older boy when he was seven. He has another scar on the knuckles of his right hand which he got when he cut himself on the same boy's glasses (after he broke them with his fist).

Dress Style: (remember that most wizards would wear robes, and that there is a war going on which might effect supplies) Tailored and expensive robes in rich but not too conspicuous colours. Rich, dark green, deep blue as well as dark grey robes of finest silk or wool would be his preference. Keeping with wizarding tradition he rarely wears anything on underneath his robes and if he does, never anything other than a pair of fine cotton boxers.

Things they would always carry with them (optional): His wand, the ring with his family crest, his wedding ring, the watch Padma gave him on their wedding day and two keys. One is the key to the armoire in his bedroom – this he wears around his neck, transfigured to look like a normal silver pendant in the shape of a rune (the rune that symbolises acceptance). The other, is the key to a the vault at Forter Castle, and this he has transfigured into a small silver ring, which he wears in his pierced left nipple. Tug it lightly, and Theo will purr. Tug it hard, and he’ll slap you. Try to take it, and he’ll kill you.

Other: His manner of movement is very cat-like and he is quite proud of his body. If you were to walk in on him naked, he wouldn't cover up.

Health

Disabilities/Handicaps: None, as he tries to stay away from battles or situations where such could be acquired. Do to what he does, he has, however, ended up in the line of 'fire' (so to speak) more than once and is likely to do so again.

Health in general – both mental and physical: His physical health is mostly good, although he is a bit prone to get colds in the winter, which annoys him enough to keep quiet about. Pepper-up potions is hence one of his specialities.

Other: His relation to his father is a bigger issue than he'd like to admit.

Personality

First Impression (others have of you): Warm, charming, stylish young gentleman with a sense of honour and a sharp mind. Easy to get to know. Most people instinctively like him (if he wants them to), as he appears to be warm and caring in a way that makes people feel special and chosen.

General Behavior: Theo used to be the clever loner, but was very good to play the part of someone else. His relationship to Padma changed him, and for a while he was more open to people than he'd ever been before. Her death changed him just as drastically though and he is now more inaccessible than he's ever been before.

From a very young age, he watched and studied people, and now he uses what he learned to his advantage when needed. Manipulative, smooth, devious when he wants to be, he can make people do things they didn't think they ever would. People who have his attention tend to feel as if they're the centre of the world. Many would feel they know him so well, while in truth they know nothing of him at all. He smiles a lot, but the smiles are rarely sincere, though that too is changing after his marriage. He can seem passionate about anything but after Padma's death cares of very few things but himself and Nathaniel. Even Verity, whom he still cares about would find him a bit more distant than before. Now that he is a father, he has found more areas of interest later. He finds he's interested in children (which is a new discovery) and cares about what kind of world his son will be raised in.

He is punctual, a collector at heart, an avid reader of books he views as useful. In addition he's a good liar when he wants to be. He does have certain principles that he does not like to break – he does not injure or hurt or use children, he always treats his house elves well and he is old fashioned when it comes to his treatment of women (though he does like them smart and clever). He also has a strong protective streak when it comes to the women he actually cares about, even if he at times has tried to deny this part about himself.

Strengths: Getting information, manipulation people to suit his own needs. He can make people talk for hours without ever realising that the conversation isn't going both ways. He makes people feel special with a smile and a casual touch. He's a natural flirt and very good at it. Good at finding people's weak spots as well as their secrets. Can talk people into things and make them believe it was their idea from the start.

Weaknesses: He has a temper that he has trouble keeping in check when it explodes - though his patience and control before it reach this point is large. He hates it when people are late and can turn violent without any prior warning. He is vindictive and never forgets a wrong done to him – though his willingness to forgive depends on how much he likes you. If he does not like you - he never forgives. He is also less patient than he likes to pride himself with being.

Habits: Where he used to smile a lot, his face is now colder. He can still smile when needed for his purpose, but smiling doesn't come natural to him any more. Smiles today are very well chosen as he finds it helps him achieve his goals. When bothered he tends to frown if he's not actively schooling his face. He gets a wrinkle between his eyes when something bothers him.

Enjoys: Fine wines, cognac, champagne, good food, expensive clothes – basically all luxuries he can get his hands on. He wants power over people, and delights when he has it. He likes a challenge (if he wins it) and a good game of wizarding poker or chess (although he cheats).

Dislikes: Weakness, feeling helpless (which he almost never does), losing his temper, people who are late.

Other:Theo is a collector. He collects fine wines, rare books and most of all – people's dirty little secrets. He keeps those secrets in magically concealed vault and the key never leaves his body. He uses the secrets to nudge, bribe or blackmail people into giving him what he wants, and uses them to gain a secret behind the scenes power.

Family

Spouce/partner (if applicable): Deceased - Padma (Patil) Married: June 8th 2005, Died: September 5 2006.
Parents: Nicholas and Helena Nott - both decesed.
Sibling(s): None
Children: Nathaniel
Bloodline: Pureblood
Family History: The Nott family is old and acknowledged wizarding family, right up in the league with the Malfoys and the Blacks. As one of Britain's most prominent pureblood families it is part of the absolute aristocracy of the wizarding world. With the name came estates and money and power, but also duties, arranged marriages and the risk of dying before one’s time (murder was not an uncommon feature even within the Nott family, which is why Theo is grateful his father didn’t have any other legitimate children).

Theodore's mother died giving birth to him. His father was elderly, and never remarried, confident that Theo would carry on the family name without him needing to take another wife.

His father took a great interest in his education, but in all other things Theo was raised by the nannies his father hired - and fired - once he got tired of them (or if they refused to share his bed). Theo always had a problematic relationship with his father - being greatly influenced by the man but resenting the way he tried to make Theo feel he wasn't a good enough Nott. Theo wasn't sad when his father died in 2001 (actually wished he'd suffer). Truth was that Theo's father never fully regained his strength after the injuries he sustained during the events at the Ministy and the time he spent in Azkaban following the battle. During his time in jail (until the attack on Azkaban in 1999) Theodore learnt to take care of himself. He was not too pleased when his father returned, but noticed soon that with the state he was in the man was no threat to his new-found independence and let the man die in his own good time.

In spite of his relationship with his father, Theo is very proud of his origin and his family name. Yet he is not so stupid as not to realise that the importance and status of his family name is changing because of the war. He has, however, his money and the secrets he collects about people to fall back on, as well as a lot of connections with all sides of the war. He fully intends to keep the Nott name an influential one after the war.

Pets: Two owls by the name of Athena and Zephyr and a Doberman by the name of Orthus. He also has several horses.
Other: Rodolphus Lestrange is his godfather. On taking on this responsibility, Rodolphus went through a blood bonding ceremony meaning that he cannot ever hurt Theo (he can send others to do it however) and he'll always have access to him in the Nott houses.

Social/Romantic/Sexual

Close Friendships: Verity O'Shea, Draco Malfo
Other Friendships: Damian Montague, Bill Weasley, Pansy Parkinson, Daphne Bletchley (Greengrass), Blaise Zabini and Adrian Pucey
Known Enemies: Miles Bletchley, Lisa Lestrange
Sexual Preference: Straight.
Turn Ons: A clever mind, Power, submission and pain (other’s), domination (his own), control, money, connections.
Turn Offs: Tediousness, weakness
Past Relationships: None that he cares to talk about

What they think about sex and love He used to think that sex was best casual and love was something that rarely exist, his belief in this changed dramatically with the love he felt for his wife. Now though he has no interest in falling in love ever again. His heart is a lot colder than it was before.

Other: Theo lost his virginity to one of his nannies during a summer break. The woman taught him quite a lot and for that he is forever grateful. He can't help but to feel smug about the fact that she was also one of the few nannies his father didn't manage to bully into his bed.

Magical

Wand Type: 12 inches, poplar with a core of phoenix feather, rather rigid

Magical talents: Theo is very good at transfiguration and potions brewing, he is a natural when it comes to the Dark Arts – especially the Imperitus curse which he is quite fascinated by. He's also quite apt at wordless spells and Occlemency.

Magical weaknesses/aversions (what your character can't or won't do): He cannot cast a patronus and he hasn't yet learned enough of Legilimancy to manage it without detection (he's taking lessons with Snape on this however and is a very strong Legimens if not a subtle one at this point) and he would never even attempt any type of Divination as he has nothing but contempt for that particular branch of magic.

First sign of magic – when and what: Levitation at the age of three after being dropped by the house elf.
Boggart: A dementor, obviously, since he couldn’t fight one even if he tried
Knows how to Apparate (y/n): Yes
Knows how to cast a patronus (y/n – if yes what?): No.
Knows how to use the unforgivables (y/n): Yes – and has, several times
Other: Theo is very skilled at using old and ancient spells, hexes and curses.

Schooling:

Year: (in relation to Harry's year) Same as Harry's
House: Slytherin
Other Affiliations: None, as he preferred not to get involved in anything where his loyalty could be demanded
Best subject(s): Transfiguration, Potions, Arithmancy
Poor subject(s): Herbology, History of Magic (staying awake was a serious issue), Care of Magical creatures (he kept hexing them to make them stay away)
Electives s/he would have taken: Arithmancy, Ancient Runes
Best Mates: Theo didn’t have friends, (that he admitted to) he had allies he distrusted less than others. His main ally would have been Blaise, although Verity was always the one person he cared about and trusted.

Romantic interests:The word romantic would imply that it was something more than sex, which Theo finds preposterous. Sexually, however, there were plenty of interests. Later, when Theo was older, he started to enjoy seducing - or taking - younger students. He also developed certain 'tastes' of dominance and sadism, something Romilda Vane learnt when he turned her into one of his first regular 'pets' during his final year. He also had sexual encounters with Pansy and Daphne in school.

Level of education reached (do your characters have OWLs/NEWTs – none of the above? Have they gone on to some type of training? Remember that there is no wizarding uni and that there is a war going on): NEWTs in Transfiguration, Potions, Arithmancy, Ancient Runes, Charms and a few other subjects.
Other:

Financial

Current Occupation: Business man with several businesses. Spy for all sides though loyal to the side of light (or rather whomever Draco is supporting)
Other Occupations (side incomes, volunteer work, illegal activities): Theo has 'investments' in several illegal operations such as the black market, smuggling, money lending, blackmailing, selling information…basically anything which will keep him living in the style which he is accustomed to – of course after making sure that he can't get caught.

Monetary Situation: Extremely wealthy. The Nott family always kept the main part of their funds in their castle which has spared him from the loss of too much money. Since he has no issues with using other people's suffering to gain money, he is one of those who profits from the war and has therefore only added to his wealth.
Other: N/A

Current situation

Affiliations and organisations: DE, The Order, the Isolationists, board of Governors at Hogwarts, chairman (founder) on the board of the bank that's being started
Faction this character support: He used to secretively wish for the Death Eater faction to win, but this had more to do with Rodolphus being his godfather than anything else. With what has happened over the last year though, he has drastically change and is more or less willing to do anything to see Rodolphus fail.

In lack of a good option for people like them, he and Draco has made plans to try and take over once the war is over. The base for their power will be contacts, money and the bank.

Role in the ongoing war: Theo decided early on to use the war to his own benefit. Using his father's contacts, he managed to convince his godfather, Rudolphus Lestrange, that he would do well as a spy and thereafter contacted Minerva McGonagall and Tiberius Ogden and convinced them of the same thing. He is presently using his abilities to play all sides, giving all sides information they ask for. He doesn't offer up more info than is asked for other than occationally, as he doesn't want to put in a situation where things can be traced back to him. His goal is to make sure to gain a position where he will come out of top no matter the outcome.

Finally
What is your character's deepest, darkest secret (one that other game characters probably wouldn't know and that he/she would prefer they didn't find out about) Also list the names of anyone who might know, or might be suspicious of this knowledge: Where to start…
* Just how bad the relationship between himself and his father was (Verity would know this though most would know he disliked his father, Snape has seen most of this in their Legelimancy lessons and he has at least hinted at the bad relationship to Padma)
